Pony Power

Anyone that knows me from high school knows I drive an old Camaro. But sometimes in this life we are gifted an opportunity to photograph things from the other side of the fence. All joking aside, this GT is a beautiful car to shoot against the backdrop of a stormy Iowa night.

Armed with only a flashlight I began to paint the car. As the night went on I painted different areas of the car more and less, turned the lights on and off, lit the interior etc and with all of that was a bit disappointed with a green color cast I was gaining from a security light off to camera right. As I began to pack up for some reason impossible as it may be (probably Dad messing with me from the clouds above) the security light kicked off and I was standing in front of the Mustang in complete darkness. At first I was a bit shocked. I looked around as the hair on the back of my neck stood up. Then I realized the potential, set up my camera and began the process all over only this time in darkness. The end result is this clean image illuminated only by a flashlight, some ambient light from the night sky and the headlights of the car.

Sometimes it pays to have spirits on your side!

Thanks Dad!
