Stimulight Photography with Nate Jones

_DSC0129

For you that know me, you know I love to light paint. Because of this passion, my buddy Johnny and I started a company named Stimulight the Night. Last night under that company name, I had the pleasure of photographing friend, and pro archer, Nate Jones. Check out the post on our Stimulight Page and see what we did with lit up arrows, steel wool, and a super moon!

Carved in Wood with Stanley Leonard

Stan Image

Youtube (Carved in Wood)

I first met Stan when we worked together at a scout reservation and was overwhelmed by his ridiculous humor. Little did I know the man was as talented as they come. I spent an afternoon with Stan while he showed me the process of making a print from a woodcut he had carved earlier. The prints were really something special. You could see the raw passion he puts into each one of these prints. The process is slow and detailed and he loves every step.

The video gives you a small glimpse of what Stan can do. Check out his site to see what he can really do! Also feel free to contact Stan to have a print of your own.

And yes I used Papyrus and it felt good;)

I Hear a Woodcutter

_DSC5823blog

Stanley Leonard is a man of many faces, overflowing personality, and a talent to be admired. Stan is the Woodcutter!

Art is his domain and wood his medium. I was lucky enough to film Stan creating one of his prized woodcuts. He walked me through all the intricacies it takes to make one of these beautiful pieces of art. Not only did Stan explain how woodcuts are made, he gave a glimpse of his place in this field of art.

Did I mention we took Stan into the woods with an axe and made some portraits? That’s where things got weird. A woodcutter in his natural environment.

Video on it’s way through post as I type so prepare yourselves for…. “The Woodcutter”
